In a lecture, Griffin once referred to the Farben-Rockefeller merger as "the largest and most powerful cartel the world has ever known, even though most people have never heard about it."

And so the extremely influential Rockefeller came to be interlocked with the drug industry, and under the guise of philanthropy, began donating large sums of money to America's faltering medical schools. Of course, the catch was that such schools were told the money had to be used for drug research, which would create a great profit for Rockefeller interests. In their time of need, medical schools readily complied. "When they accepted the money, they had to follow the dollar, and they designed their curricula so it favors pharmacy (and) pharmaceutical drugs," says Griffin.

This effectively gave birth to the conventional medical care system we know today, which is based almost entirely on prescription drugs and knows little to nothing about basic nutrition. "The medical schools of the United States now teach the students everything there is to know about their product, which is drugs," Griffin says, "And so [doctors] come out as highly trained drug salesmen, and they don't even know it!""

Big Bucks, Big Pharma: Marketing Disease and Pushing Drugs (Documentary)

Adverse drugs reactions, that happens although the medications are properly prescribed, are the 5th leading cause of deaths in the united states. They lead to 100 000 deaths and 1 500 000 hospitalizations yearly.

The top U.S. drug makers spend 2.5 times as much on marketing and administration as they do on research.

At least a third of the drugs marketed by industry leaders were discovered by universities or small biotech companies, but they're sold to the public at inflated prices.

Taxol, the cancer drug discovered by the National Institutes of Health, but sold by Bristol-Myers Squibb for $20,000 a year, 20 times the manufacturing cost. The company agreed to pay the NIH only 0.5 percent in royalties for the drug.

Troops Exposed To Toxic Dust, Contaminated Water And Electrocuted By KBR

"The military contractor Kellogg Brown and Root, known as KBR, has won more than $28 billion in U.S. military contracts since the beginning of the Iraq war. KBR may be facing a new scandal. First, accusations its then-parent company Halliburton was given the lucrative contract. And later, allegations of shoddy construction oversight that resulted in Americans getting electrocuted. Now, some other American soldiers say the company knowingly put their lives at risk, CBS News chief investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian exclusively reports.

Today James Gentry is dying from rare form of lung cancer. The result, he believes, of months of inhaling hexavalent chromium - an orange dust that's part of a toxic chemical found all over the plant.

At least one other Indiana guardsman has already died from lung cancer, and others are said to be suffering from tumors and rashes consistent with exposure to the deadly toxin.

This is far from the first time the multi-billion dollar contractor has been accused of questionable conduct at Iraq. In addition to convictions for bribery, it's alleged KBR provided contaminated water to troops. The company denies all charges."

"Dozens of U.S. troops in Iraq fell sick at bases using "unmonitored and potentially unsafe" water supplied by the military and a contractor once owned by Vice President Dick Cheney's former company, the Pentagon's internal watchdog says.

A report obtained by The Associated Press said soldiers experienced skin abscesses, cellulitis, skin infections, diarrhea and other illnesses after using discolored, smelly water for personal hygiene and laundry at five U.S. military sites in Iraq.

The Defense Department's inspector general's report, which could be released as early as Monday, found water quality problems between March 2004 and February 2006 at three sites run by contractor KBR Inc., and between January 2004 and December 2006 at two military-operated locations."

"A highly decorated Green Beret, Staff Sgt. Ryan Maseth died a painful death in Iraq this year. He died not on the battlefield. He died in what should have been one of the safest spots in Iraq: on a U.S. base, in his bathroom.

The water pump was not properly grounded, and when he turned on the shower, a jolt of electricity shot through his body and electrocuted him January 2.

The next day, Cheryl Harris was informed of his death. A mother of three sons serving in Iraq, she had feared such news might come one day.

"I did ask exactly, 'How did Ryan die? What happened to him?' And he had told me that Ryan was electrocuted," she said.

Her reaction was disbelief. "I truly couldn't believe he would be electrocuted ... in the shower," she said.

Maseth, 24, was not the first. At least 12 U.S. troops have been electrocuted in Iraq since the start of the war in 2003, according to military and government officials."

I am a 22 year old female from Australia. Last Thursday I received my 1st dose of Gardasil from my GP. I had no idea of what it could do! I already have HPV, and undergo paps and colposcopies regularly to keep and eye on it. I didn't see the point in getting the needles, but I was told I still should! I have it though, what can it do?? I was told it is free, so I should just have it.

I felt fine on Thursday. I felt tired and was extremely dizzy on Friday. I woke up Saturday morning and my left wrist felt like it had been jarred really bad. Saturday night I thought my legs were aching, so I headed to bed to rest them up. I woke up Sunday morning and it hurt to do anything — every one of my joints was in severe pain. Come this morning (Monday morning) my fingers have swollen to twice their usual size and I have been in tears all day because the pain in my joints is almost unbearable. I cannot pour myself a drink, make my own food, put my shoes on or anything — it bloody hurts! Typing this is painful. Something is really wrong with me!

I went back to my doctor, I told her I thought I was having a reaction to Gardasil. She said that the pain I was experiencing could not be a reaction to Gardasil because they did tests and half the girls tested were not injected with Gardisal. The complaints of muscle and joint pain were the same in the girls injected as the ones not injected!

I don't know what else it could be. She said it is something else because I had a gastro viral bug a couple of weeks ago, and that was followed by a rash! And I am normally healthy! But something isn't right. She took blood, but I just know that I am going to get brushed off. This isn't normal!!

I have no idea what to do. I've been trying to research on the net, and from what I am reading this stuff does happen! Girls are dizzy, fainting, having seizures, and some are paralyzed. Is severe joint pain usual? Can you please tell me anything you know!!

I don't want to get the other needles, but everyone thinks I am crazy. I am not crazy, it just hurts so so much, and I am scared of what is happening to me! It is scary how I feel right now, and will it ever go away?! And what kind of stuff is going to happen to me in the future?! I wish I never said yes to getting it. I feel so stupid!

I'm scared, and thought you may be able to tell me if this is a reaction other people have had before?

I don't know what to do! I have to go back to work tomorrow, and I don't know how I am going to do it!
